Swimming World Internship Opportunity
CALL TO INTERNS
Swimming World Magazine is hoping to wrangle together another gifted group of writers interested in enhancing their journalism skills and garnering valuable experience to add to their resumes.
The Swimming World interns from the summer season submitted stories bi-weekly and delved into feature writing, race analysis, training studies and event coverage. By the numbers, 50 percent of Swimming World's most-read online content was written by our stellar interns. Our army of interns significantly improved our ability to cover college swimming and diving events across the country!
We are looking for writers eager to report local swimming happenings, help with event coverage, and hone their feature writing skills. This Olympic summer presented some thrilling storylines and there is sure to be an afterglow to this magical summer in our sport! This internship is conducted via email-- all work can be done remotely.
If you have someone on your team -- athlete, manager, grad assistant -- interested in gaining exposure and journalism experience this college season, please have them submit the following to Annie Grevers at annieg@swimmingworld.com by Monday, September 12.
· A brief bio including name, school, conference, major, and class.
· An aquatics-related writing sample. This may be an analysis piece, a feature story, or a training-specific article. *Please shoot for between 600 and 800 words.
Swimming World will also accept a few interns who want to learn more about and work within social media. If interested strictly in the social media aspect of journalism, please submit your age, major, and what you hope to learn from this opportunity to Caroline Kosciusko at caroline.kosciusko@gmail.com by Monday, September 12.
*Applicants will be notified of their selection by Friday, September 16. Selected applicants will begin the internship Monday, September 19, 2016 and conclude Friday, March 31, 2017.
