USA Swimming, the national governing body for the sport of swimming in the United States, today announced the hiring of CSCAA Executive Director Joel Shinofield as Managing Director of Sport Development. The CSCAA Executive Board has named Greg Earhart as Interim Executive Director.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Joel and the CSCAA could not be more happy for him and his family,” stated CSCAA President Clark Campbell. “Our organization grew to unprecedented heights under his leadership.  We know Joel will continue growing the sport at all levels within USA Swimming. He is truly a gifted sport executive.  In the meantime, Greg Earhart will take over as our Interim Executive Director as we navigate a new and exciting direction!“

Under Shinofield’s direction, the CSCAA and intercollegiate swimming and diving thrived. During his six years as executive director Shinofield was instrumental in:

• the establishment of 143 intercollegiate teams including including thirty-four men’s scholarship programs;

• establishing the CSCAA Open Water Championship and NIC Championship; and

• a 25% growth in CSCAA membership.

In his role, Shinofield will support the growth of the sport at all levels and connect swimming stakeholders from grassroots to competitive levels. He will lead efforts to advance organizational initiatives promoting membership growth and retention.

"I've been involved in competitive swimming for over two decades, from age-group coaching to the high school, and collegiate levels and I look forward to serving all of these constituencies in this new role,” Shinofield stated. “I would like to thank all of the coaches, board members, and staff that I have worked with over the past six years at the CSCAA, I am grateful for your support and the many friendships developed along the way."

With Shinofield’s departure, Greg Earhart, will become Interim Executive Director. Earhart has served the CSCAA as its Director of Research and Programs for the past three years. He brings twenty years of intercollegiate coaching experience with a background in the nonprofit and public policy sectors. In addition to the promotion of Earhart, the Association will conduct a search for a new Program Director.
