The decision of the University of North Dakota to preserve sports was a solid win, albeit one with a lot of work ahead. One thing that was vital was the advance warning Head Coach Chris Maiello provided. In conversations with other Olympic sports organizations there is a growing fear that the Spring of 2017 could be a frightful one for our sports.
In order ahead of this crisis, we began conducting threat assessments for all Division I programs, including those that have been eliminated recently. THE RESULTS HAVE BEEN STARTLING. Of the top twelve teams identified as being at risk, three have already been eliminated.
