Rawleigh Named Steadman Award Recipient

Michael Rawleigh, who led the Gettysburg College men’s and women’s swimming teams for thirty-four years, was selected as the 2020 Richard E. Steadman Award. The selection was made by the Executive Board of the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) in recognition of the coach who, in the opinion of the CSCAA and International Swimming Hall of Fame, has done the most to spread happiness in the sport of swimming and diving.

Welsh Selected for Franklin Award

Tim Welsh, who captured two NCAA team titles and led the University of Notre Dame for thirty years has been selected for the 2020 CSCAA Benjamin Franklin Award. The selection from the Executive Board of the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) is made in recognition of pioneering individuals or organizations whose efforts and innovations best promote the integrity and enhancement of the student-athlete ideal.

Swim Trophy Nominees Announced

The nominees for the National Collegiate Scholastic Trophy were announced today by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America. The trophy is the highest honor in intercollegiate and interscholastic swimming and diving.

UC Davis’ Jahn Selected for Steadman Award

The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) Executive Board of Directors has selected Barbara Jahn as its 2019 Richard E Steadman Award winner. Jahn will be recognized at the 59th Annual CSCAA Awards Banquet on May 6th in Myrtle Beach. For forty-four years Barb Jahn has brought a relentless positive attitude to the pools, fields, gyms and classrooms at UC Davis.  She has been the women’s Head Swimming Coach for 43 seasons and has led the Aggies to five conference titles since their transition to Division I a decade ago. 

Tierney Selected for CSCAA Swim Across America Award

In 2015 McKendree University announced the hiring of Jimmy Tierney to launch a new swimming and diving program for men and women in southern Illinois. Jimmy began his journey that fall at a school with no aquatics history and just a drawing of a new pool.

Bigelow Selected for Lifetime Achievement Award

The Executive Board of the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has named Nancy Bigelow as its 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award winner. Bigelow will be recognized at the 59th Annual CSCAA Awards Banquet on May 6, 2019 in Myrtle Beach.

Six Selected for Freeman Class of 2019

The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) have selected Kristin Walker, Daniel Dozier, Mona Groteguth, Alice McCall, Nathan Hardingand Daniel Burke.to receive the Jean Freeman Scholarship.  The scholarships are given annually to six assistant coaches whose exceptional contributions have brought recognition to their college or university, and whose leadership, integrity, honesty, competitive attitude and personal graciousness epitomize those characteristics reflected by Jean Freeman, longtime women’s swimming coach at the University of Minnesota. 

Lapshina, Kusch, Haasan, Persall Lead Division II All-America Teams

Queens University of Charlotte’s Polina Lapshina and Marius Kusch lead the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA)’s Division II All-America team. The pair were named women’s and men’s swimmers of the year and join 259 other swimmers and divers from forty institutions on the list. The CSCAA also selected an additional 133 student-athletes from an additional ten schools to its honorable mention team.
