Dual Meet Challenge Day 1 Results

The opening day of the CSCAA Dual Meet Challenge delivered electrifying action as four powerhouse programs squared off in a pair of marquee matchups, each contested on both the men’s and women’s sides. The University of Virginia and Arizona State University opened the competition with an intense showdown that showcased innovative coaching strategies, including timeouts and dynamic lineup adjustments, aimed at maximizing performance throughout a demanding weekend. The meet ended in a split, with the Cavalier women and Sun Devil men earning hard-fought victories.

In the second matchup of the day, the University of Tennessee and the University of Michigan battled through two tightly contested duals that came down to the wire. The women’s meet came down to the final event with Michigan grabbing the victory. The Tennessee men pulled away in the back half of the meet to set the stage for an exciting day two.

Day One set the stage for an unforgettable championship weekend as athletes took on the 100s of stroke, the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle, the 400 IM, and both the 400 Medley and 400 Free Relays. Full results are available below.

Men's Results

#1 Arizona State 38 vs #4 Virginia 3

The Sun Devil Men won every event in their victory over the Cavaliers to advance and  take on Tennessee .  While the Cavalier men will look to bounce back against Michigan to stay alive in the Dual Meet Challenge.

#2 Tennessee 24 vs #3 Michigan 16

The Volunteer men picked up a hard-earned victory, breaking open a tied meet with sweeps in both the 100 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke. Michigan stayed within striking distance but ultimately came up just short as day one came to a close. With the results set, Tennessee advances to face Arizona State in the winner’s bracket, while the Wolverines will square off against Virginia in a critical matchup to stay alive in the challenge.

Women's Results

#1 Virginia 30 vs #4 Arizona State 10

The Cavalier women secured their matchup with the Sun Devils, winning eight of nine events to claim their place in the winner’s bracket, where they will take on Michigan. Arizona State will look to rebound against Tennessee in a crucial matchup to stay alive in the Dual Meet Challenge, a showdown that promises to bring even more excitement on day two.

#2 Michigan 23 vs #3 Tennessee 17 

The Wolverines edged out the Lady Vols in a meet that remained tight from start to finish, entering the 400 Freestyle Relay deadlocked. Michigan surged ahead in the final 200 yards to secure both the relay and the overall victory. With the win, Michigan advances to face Virginia in the winner’s bracket, while Tennessee will square off with Arizona State in a pivotal matchup with the right to race Sunday on the line.
