Eligibility
Team Awards (Spring & Fall Semesters)
The CSCAA recognizes Scholar All-America Teams for both the Fall and Winter Semesters. In order to be recognized, teams must:
- Be current CSCAA members;
- Have achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher;
- Be nominated by a current CSCAA member or their designee by entry deadline.
Calculating Team GPA
- Team GPA calculations must include any student-athlete who competed at any time during the current season.
- Team GPA calculations shall not include redshirts.
- Use each student-athlete’s semester/quarter GPA (do not use cumulative GPAs).
- Add each student-athlete’s GPA and divide by number of student-athletes
Individual Awards (Spring Semester Only)
Individual Scholar All-America is only awarded in the Spring and presented to college and university swimmers and divers, who have achieved both academic and athletic excellence over the semester/quarter coinciding with the year of their respective national championships.
Academic Criteria
- Student must have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.50 or higher during the academic year or semester coinciding with their national championship. Cumulative GPAs ARE NOT accepted.
- Student must be in good standing with their team and institution throughout the entire season;
- Student must be in good standing with their team and institution throughout the entire season;
- Student must be nominated by a current CSCAA member or their designee by the entry deadline.
Athletic Criteria
First Team:
- Must have participated at respective national championship.
Second Team:
- Division I: Must achieve an NIC “A” standard in one of the events contested at the NCAA Championship (these times are determined using the rolling three-year average of the 125th-fastest time in NCAA Championship events; this metric was formerly used as the Division I NCAA “B” qualifying standard) or an NCAA Zone qualification score.
- 50 butterfly, 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke and 100 IM are not eligible for CSCAA Scholar All America.
- Times can be found on the CSCAA National Invitational Webpage.
- Division II, Division III and NAIA: Must achieve an individual “B” time standard or an NCAA Zone qualification score.
- Individuals achieving “B” standards as a part of a relay are not eligible.
- Divers must achieve a Zone qualifying score, but are not required to compete at their respective NCAA diving qualification meet.
