October 5, 2026 — The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced today that Stefani Wendelschaefer, Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at NC State, has been appointed to the CSCAA Board of Directors as the Assistant/Associate Head Coach Representative.
The Assistant/Associate Head Coach Representative is a relatively new addition to the CSCAA Board and reflects the Association’s commitment to ensuring coaches at different stages and levels of leadership have a voice in shaping the future of collegiate swimming and diving.
“Assistant coaches are an incredibly important part of our membership, and they often experience our sport through a different lens than a head coach,” said Samantha Barany, Executive Director of the CSCAA. “As we make decisions about the future of our Association and collegiate swimming and diving, we need those perspectives represented in the room. Stefani is a thoughtful and respected coach who understands both the opportunities and challenges facing assistant coaches today. We are excited to welcome her to the Board and know she will be an important voice in the conversations ahead.”
Wendelschaefer is in her sixth season with the NC State swimming and diving program after initially joining the Wolfpack as a volunteer coach ahead of the 2021–22 season. She was promoted to assistant coach in 2022 and elevated to Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator prior to the 2025–26 season. Working primarily with NC State’s middle-distance group, Wendelschaefer has been part of a staff that has helped the Wolfpack maintain a consistent presence among the nation’s top programs.
Wendelschaefer’s appointment continues the CSCAA’s effort to build a Board that reflects the breadth of its membership and brings a variety of experiences and perspectives to the Association’s leadership. As the Assistant/Associate Head Coach Representative, she will help ensure the voices of assistant and associate head coaches are represented as the Board considers issues affecting coaches, programs and the future of collegiate swimming and diving.
