Arizona State Men, Virginia Women Collect 449 Points and Top Spot

The Arizona State men were one vote shy of being the unanimous #1 rank in the January edition of the CSCAA Division I Top 25 Dual Meet Rankings.

The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) released the January Edition of the 2022-23 Division I Top 25 Dual Meet Ranks. The committee, comprised of Division I coaches and select media outlets, ranks the top 25 teams in the nation based on dual meet strength. The committee uses head-to-head results from the most recent segment of the season as the top consideration. Head-to-head results from prior segments of the season, common opponents and meet simulations are also considered when establishing monthly rankings. This poll does not predict top finishers in a championship meet format.

On the men's side, the Arizona State Sun Devils (449 points) maintained the top spot. California (432), Florida (411) and NC State (386) each jumped up one spot to second, third and fourth, respectively. The Texas Longhorns dropped from second to tied-for-fifth (363) because of their head-to-head loss to Ohio State University. On the strength of this victory, the Buckeyes made a massive leap from thirteenth to tied-for-fifth (363). Of the top 25 teams, twenty-two appeared on all ballots. A total of twenty-nine men’s teams earned at least one vote.

The January women's poll is reminiscent of December, with first through fifth remaining unchanged. Virginia (449 points) collected all but one top vote and remain in first.  Texas (432) took the final first place vote and the second spot this month.  Stanford (411), NC State (388) and Ohio State (387) remained in third, fourth and fifth, respectively. The first variation from December came with Louisville (354) as they climbed one spot to 6th. Of the top 25 teams, twenty teams appeared on all ballots. A total of twenty-eight women's teams earned at least one vote.
