March 12, 2022 - The final day of the NIC dropped eight new meet records, making that a total of 21 meet records for the weekend.
Tennessee men were crowned National Invitational Champions, closing the day with 787 points. The Ohio State placed second with 670 points, followed by Texas Christian with 661 points.
TCU’s Geremia Freri was name Most Outstanding Swimmer of the meet, finishing first and breaking meet records in 500 Free (4:18.63) and the 400 IM (3:48.17). Freri was third in the 1000 Free (9:15.42) and fourth in the 1,650 (15:26.61) and fifth in TCU’s 800 Free Relay (6:34.28).
James Winchester of Texas Christian was named men’s NIC coach of the meet.
The Ohio State women took home the NIC title with 828 points. Florida International was the meet runner-up with 623 points and Tennessee finished third with 575.5 points.
Claire Nguyen of Tennessee was named NIC’s Most Outstanding Swimmer of the meet. She took home three individual titles in the 500 Free (4:45.30), 1000 Free (9:51.53) and the 1,650 Free (16:25.39). The 1000 and 1,650 are new NIC meet records. Claire also finished 14th in the 200 Free (1:48.99) and was part of the Vol’s 800 Free Relay that finished 2nd (7:17.25).
Florida International’s Randy Horner earned the women’s NIC coach of the meet.

Tennessee leads the men’s meet with 540 points, Texas Christian is second with 453 points and Ohio State is third with 429 points.
In the women’s team race Ohio State is in first with 542 points, Florida International is second with 484 points and Tennessee is third with 415.5 points.

On the men’s side Tennessee leads the team race with 279 points. Ohio State is in second with 236 points and Cal Baptist is in third with 212 points.
Florida International women lead after the first night of racing with 265 points, Ohio State is in second place with 256 points and Tennessee is in third with 242 points.
