CSCAA Opens Nominations for 2022-2023 Awards
The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America has opened nominations for the organization’s five most prestigious recognitions. The CSCAA honors individuals each year during the CSCAA Annual Meetings. The 2022-2023 CSCAA Annual Meetings will take place in Orlando, Florida at the DoubleTree Resort at Universal Studios, beginning May 7th-10th. Recipients will receive their award during the reception and have complimentary hotel and travel accommodations provided.
Below is a description of each award. Nominations should be received no later than January 15, 2023. Awards are open to coaches and people of impact in the swimming & diving community. Candidates can self-nominate or be nominated by someone else, including media outlets, which are limited to three nominations per award.

National Collegiate and Scholastic Trophy
Presented to a coach who, in the estimation of the recipient’s peers, has "the greatest contribution to swimming and diving as competitive sports, and as a healthful, recreational activity in the province of undergraduate and scholastic education.” The award is presented annually by both the CSCAA and NISCA and selected by the CSCAA membership.
Richard E Steadman Award
Conferred to a coach who has contributed significantly to spreading happiness in Coach Steadman’s beloved sports of swimming and diving. Award winners are selected by the CSCAA Board of Directors. Nominees must have served in intercollegiate athletics for at least twenty years.
Charles McCaffree Award
Presented annually to an individual connected to swimming and diving who has achieved outstanding success outside of the pool. Nominations are valid for two years. Award winners are selected by the CSCAA Board of Directors. Nominees must have competed at the intercollegiate level and should have achieved recognition and success outside of their competitive career.
Ben Franklin Award
The Ben Franklin Award recognizes pioneering individuals or organizations whose efforts and innovations best promote the integrity and enhancement of the student-athlete experience. Nominees’ contributions may be technical, social, economic, or through their leadership initiatives. Award winners are selected by the CSCAA Board of Directors. To be eligible nominees must have served in intercollegiate aquatics for at least twenty years.
Lifetime Achievement Award
The Lifetime Achievement Award is not presented every year, but awarded by the CSCAA Board of Directors, as warranted, to individuals whose efforts best exemplify the integrity and ideals of collegiate swimming and diving. Recipients have achieved significant success in the sport while imparting the educational and character-building qualities of the collegiate swimming and diving experience.
