Emory Men and Kenyon Women debut at #1 in Preseason Poll
October 13, 2023 - Lewisburg, PA - The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) released the pre-season edition of the Division III Top 25 dual meet poll. The Emory Men men and Kenyon women are the projected top dual meet teams in the country. The Emory men were ranked second in the final poll of the 2022-23 season, while the Nova Southeastern Women closed out 2023 in first.
The committee, consisting of Division III coaches, assesses and ranks the nation's top 25 dual meet teams. Their evaluation takes into account head-to-head dual meet outcomes, performances since the last rankings, season-long performances, dual meet records, roster changes (such as injuries), and data from the SwimCloud Simulator. It's important to note that the poll's objective is not to predict the top finishers in a championship meet format.
For the men, the Eagles secured the top spot in the pre-season poll with 421 points, supported by 13 first-place votes, narrowly surpassing second-place Kenyon with 412 points. Chicago (408) and MIT (370) followed closely at third and fourth, respectively. NYU claimed the fifth position with 342 points. A total of 29 teams garnered votes as the season commenced.
On the women's side, the Owls clinched the top position with 369 points, bolstered by 10 first-place votes. Emory began the season in second place with 359 points, while Denison (351) secured the third spot. Williams (324) claimed fourth place and Chicago (316) rounded out the top five.
