NYU Men and Emory Women Lead Division III December Polls

NYU Men and Emory Women top December Poll

December 20, 2024 - The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has released the December edition of the Division III Top 25 dual meet poll. The NYU men and Emory women have taken over the top spots of the Division III December polls.

The committee, consisting of Division III coaches, assesses and ranks the nation's top 25 dual meet teams. Their evaluation takes into account head-to-head dual meet outcomes, performances since the last rankings, season-long performances, dual meet records, roster changes (such as injuries), and data from the SwimCloud Simulator. It's important to note that the poll's objective is not to predict the top finishers in a championship meet format.

NYU (388) claimed the top spot in the men's poll for the first time this year, narrowly edging out Denison (382) and Emory (382), who tied for second. Chicago (352) secured fourth place, while Tufts (334) made a climb of 11 spots to round out the top five. The College of New Jersey (218) also had a notable rise, moving up seven spots to 12th. Salisbury (19), Grinnell (24), and UC-Santa Cruz (25) made their debuts in the top 25. A total of 27 teams received votes in this month's poll.

Emory (393) and Kenyon (385) retained their positions at first and second, respectively, in the women's poll. NYU (366) and MIT (350) swapped places to claim third and fourth, while Denison (346) held steady to round out the top five. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (12) made the largest leap this month, jumping six spots, while Colby (20) and Ithaca (24) entered the top 25. A total of 29 teams received votes in the December poll.

*Dual meet records are sourced from each institution's website.
