Cal took the six remaining top votes from the committee but dropped one spot to number 2, only 3 points behind Michigan. NC State moved from sixth to third this month. Tennessee and Stanford remain in the top five at fourth and fifth, respectively.
After three straight wins agains Iowa, Illinois and Northwestern Notre Dame women jump into the poll at 12th. On the men's side, it was unanimous among the committee: Texas, California and Michigan are once again first, second and third. Indiana moves up one spot to fourth and Texas A&M moves down one spot to fifth.
The men's poll includes five newcomers: Northwestern (21), Louisiana State (22), Denver (23), Georgia Tech (24) and Kentucky (25). LSU, Denver, Georgia Tech and Kentucky all received votes last month.
