Diving All-America Criteria for 2021

The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) has issued the new criteria for the recognition of All-Americans during the 2020-21 season.  The updated criteria will allow the CSCAA to recognize the best intercollegiate swimmers and divers, in the event the NCAA cancels championships.. This year marks the 98th edition of the honor, which predates the first men’s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship by thirteen years. A CSCAA ad-hoc diving advisory group, made up of coaches from all three NCAA Divisions, finalized the contingency All-American standards for diving events. The detailed criteria can be seen below:

Division I: In the event that the NCAA Division I Championships are not held, student-athletes will be considered for All-America Honors if they:

  • Win their respective event at a bona-fide collegiate conference championship OR place 2-4th in one of the five autonomy conferences (ACC, B1G, Big XII, Pa-12 or SEC); AND

  • Submit their championship video and diving for review. 

All eligible student-athletes will be reviewed and ranked by a panel of judges. The top eight will be named First Team All-America and the next eight will be named Second Team All-America.

Division II: In the event that the NCAA Division II Championships are not held, student-athletes will be considered for All-America Honors if they:

  • Achieve a minimum qualifying score at a bona fide competition (below): AND

    • 1-Meter Men: 285/ 440

    • 3-Meter Men: 295/460

    • 1-Meter Women: 255/390

    • 3-Meter Women: 265/420

  • Submit their dive sheets and results to the committee for review by May 15th. 

All eligible student-athletes will be reviewed and ranked by a panel of judges. The top eight will be named First Team All-America and the next eight will be named Second Team All-America.

Division III: In the event that the NCAA Division III Championships are not held, student-athletes will be considered for All-America Honors if they:

  • Achieve a minimum qualifying score at a bona fide competition (below); AND

    • 1-Meter Men: 275/ 425

    • 3-Meter Men: 285/440

    • 1-Meter Women: 255/395

    • 3-Meter Women: 255/410

  • Submit their video and results to the committee for review by May 15th.
