CSCAA Announces 2024 Division I Men’s Awards and All-America Team

The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced its NCAA Men's Division I award winners and All-Americans for the 2023-24 season.

The awards were determined by a vote of CSCAA-member Division I head swimming coaches and head diving coaches. All-Americans are selected on the basis of their finish at the NCAA Championships and a team's current membership with the CSCAA. Only student-athletes who competed in their championship finals are eligible for All-America Honors. NCAA relays & individuals must score in the top 8 to earn first-team honors while those who finish ninth through sixteenth earn second-team honors.

Swim Coach of the Year Award

Bob Bowman was selected as the 2023-2024 CSCAA Men’s Coach of the year by his peers following the Arizona State Sun Devil’s first swimming National Championship. The Sun Devil men won four individual events, and broke both the 400 Medley and 400 Free Relay records on their way to victory. Bowman is a multiple time coach of the year in both the Pac-12 and Big-10, however, this is his first CSCAA Coach of the year award.

Dive Coach of the Year Award

Indiana’s Drew Johansen was named the CSCAA Men’s Diving Coach of the year for 2023-2024. Hoosier divers placed top three in each event across the weekend, winning both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter along the way. Indiana Diving will place three individuals on the All-America list between First and Second Team, and brought home victories on 1-Meter and 3-Meter. This was Coach Johansen’s second consecutive year and third overall receiving the award.

Swimmer of the Year Award

For the third consecutive year, the Men’s CSCAA Swimmer of the Year has been awarded to Léon Marchand of Arizona State. Marchand won each of his three individual events, breaking NCAA records both the 500 Free and 200 Breast, additionally, Marchand and the Sun Devil men broke the 400 Medley and Free Relay marks on their way to victory.

Diver of the Year Award

Carson Tyler of Indiana was named the CSCAA Men’s Diver of the year for 2023-2024. This is Carson’s first time winning the event. Carson lead the way with victories on both the 3-Meter and Platform events, while placing third on 1-Meter.
