CSCAA Unveils Roster for 2023-2024 Women's Advisory Committee

The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) is proud to announce the new leadership team for its Women's Advisory Committee. Jeana Kempe, Head Coach at University of Illinois and Casmera Wick, Assistant Coach at Rutgers University, will serve as Co-Chairs of this committee while being supported by longtime Princeton University Head Coach, Susan Teeter and CSCAA President, Mandy DiSalle. This leadership team will guide a core group of coaches who will ultimately bring in additional coaches and administrators to support the mission of the committee throughout the year.

The Women's Advisory Committee, proudly sponsored by Speedo, is a crucial component of the CSCAA and plays a pivotal role in promoting gender equity and inclusivity in collegiate coaching in swimming and diving. Under the leadership of Jeane Kempe and Casmera Wick, the committee is poised to make even greater strides in advancing these critical objectives. The mission of the CSCAA Women’s Advisory Committee is to collaborate with all coaches to advance women in coaching through intentional initiatives that highlight, discuss and elevate the conversation about how to support and keep women in coaching positions at all levels.

Jeana Kempe (Co-Chair) is embarking on her second year leading Illinois. Before joining the Fighting Illini, she gained valuable experience on deck at South Carolina, Auburn, and LSU. Kempe herself swam competitively at UCLA, where she completed her undergraduate studies in 2007. In addition to her accomplishments in the pool, Kempe is an advocate for women in coaching. She has consistently voiced her support for increased opportunities and long-term sustainability for female coaches.

Casmera Wick (Co-Chair): from Rutgers University, assumes the role of Co-Chair with an impressive background in coaching and a deep dedication to promoting women's involvement in collegiate swimming. As a two-time All-American at Rutgers, Wick's experience and perspectives will complement the committee's efforts in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all female coaches and student-athletes.

Both Kempe and Wick are enthusiastic about their new roles and the opportunity to work collaboratively with the Women's Advisory Committee to address critical issues facing women in collegiate swimming and diving. Their leadership will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the sport and advancing the goals of gender equity and inclusivity.

"I am thrilled Jeana and Casmera will be leading this group," said Executive Director Samantha Barany. "They are both accomplished coaches with a natural flair for leadership. Our women's membership, and indeed the entire membership, will benefit from this group and their guidance. We are beyond thankful to Speedo for believing in the value of this group and I personally look forward to providing support to the Women's Advisory Committee as they embark on this significant initiative to enhance the coaching experience for all women who consider the pool their office space."

The CSCAA congratulates Jeana Kempe and Casmera Wick on their appointments and looks forward to the positive impact they will make in the realm of collegiate swimming and diving.
