Announcing the 2016 CSCAA National Collegiate Open Water Championship

 

Join Kansas swimming and diving and the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association for CSCAA National Collegiate Open Water Swimming Championships at Lone Star Lake near Lawrence, Kansas this summer. The top collegiate men’s and women’s distance swimmers with qualifying times from NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA competition are invited to the 5K open water races scheduled for Sept. 17, 2016.

Coaching is Communicating

Swimming’s Championship season has ended.  Hail to our Champions!  Oh My,
what a Championship Season this was!   At the very top, this was a Championship Season
that re-defined for us the meaning of “fast.”   Throughout the field, this was a Championship Season that taught us over and over again that times we once thought were “fast,” are no longer as “fast” as they used to be.  Message received.  Meaning communicated.  We “got it.” We have been “enlightened.”

CSCAA Recognizes 658 Teams for Academics

With Spring graduations having passed, the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has designated 658 swimming and diving teams, representing 388 colleges and universities as Scholar All-America teams.  The recognition comes as a result of each team's classroom performance in the past semester.   It is only the second time in the program’s 30+ year history of the program that more than 600 teams.

Coaching and Character: Coaching is Teaching

One of the things that strikes me as I watch (too much) basketball is listening to commentators refer to a coach who is talking to a player, usually one who has just come out of the game, as someone who is “always teaching.”  Of course the coach is “always teaching.”  That is what coaching is.  Coaching is Teaching.
